The Audit is required to be carried out as per the requirement under IS 14489 Code's of Practice on Occupational Safety & Health Audit to check the compliance with the Safety Management System Elements, various Legal requirements as applicable in various Workplaces.
The objective of the OSH audit is to carry out a systematic critical appraisal of all potential hazards involving personal, plant, services and operation methods, to examine critically the working conditions, work practices and procedures.
This includes the evaluation of the safety management and accountability systems, to ensure that occupational health and safety standards fully satisfy the legal requirements and those of the company’s safety policies, objectives and programmes.
Electrical Safety Audit is applicable for Industries, Power Plants, IT Parks, Hotels, Hospitals and Tele Communications Sites. The Electrical Audit would be conducted as per The Electricity Act, 2003 and the Indian Electricity Rules, Standards and the latest Guidelines issued by Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
Process Safety Management (PSM) audits are systematic, critical and comprehensive appraisal of the various processes, focusing on the 14 elements of OSHA's PSM Standards namely Process Safety Information (PSI), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Operating Procedures (OP), Employee Participation, Training, Contractors, Pre-Start up Safety Review (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity (MI), Hot Work Permit, Management of Change (MOC), Incident Investigation, Emergency Planning and Response (ERP), Compliance and Trade Secrets.
The PSM Audit needs to be carried out by a well-planned organized process by trained personnel, using a pre-determined audit checklist that would ensure a successful implementation of the PSM System. The standard emphasizes the management of hazards associated with highly hazardous chemicals, establishes a comprehensive management program that integrates technologies, procedures, and management practices.
